Willow Whip Planting at Brae Island’s Wattle Wall

March 28 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

**This event has been cancelled due to concerns about the threat of covid-19 and the current protocols in place to stop the spread of coronavirus**

Help us plant willow whips and red osier whips at Brae Island Regional Park! We might also do a little bit of whip harvesting depending on how far we get with planting.

Harvested whips are being used as part of a bio-engineering project to shore up the banks at Bedford Channel at Brae Island Regional Park. Once established, the planted willow will help stabilize the river bank against erosion and provide valuable wildlife habitat.

We’ll be working on a sandy bank, so wear sturdy shoes or boots and come dressed for the weather and activity. We will provide gloves, equipment and refreshments.

We’ll be meeting just in front of the washrooms near the Brae Island parking lot at 9:55am on Saturday, February 15th. 9451 Glover Rd, Langley, BC.

Tentative location. If you arrive late you can find us at the first living retaining wall, near the canoe launch just a few minutes down the trail. We might move to the second living retaining wall, just a bit further down. Please RSVP to get a reminder with an updated location, by emailing us at outreach@nulldrbipa.org.

We hope to see you there!
